The Murray family taking shelter while on holidays in Dubai
A FATHER on holidays with his partner and their four-month old son in Dubai said they are “expecting a rough night” ahead.
Craig Murray told Limerick Live they were having dinner last night in their hotel - NH Collection Dubai The Palm - when the “hotel next to us was struck”.
“We were brought to the underground car park at 7pm after the drone hit the hotel next door and everything shook, windows etc.
“Then I returned to the room to get baby stuff, nappies etc and then the official alarm was sent to all iPhones and we all went to the basement again,” said Craig is from Bray.
This Sunday, he says the family have been taking shelter.
“There has been lots of air defence activity. It’s calm right now where we are but we are expecting a rough night.
“Having our four-month-old son is making this experience a lot more stressful as you can imagine. The hotel staff have been great though,” said Craig.
Fears of all-out war escalated in the Middle East this Sunday as Iran’s supreme leader was killed in airstrikes. It has been confirmed that Ayatollah Ali Khamenei is dead, described as a seismic development in a conflict that has spread to half a dozen countries across the Middle East.
Around a dozen flights to and from the Middle East at Dublin Airport have been cancelled on Sunday.
The Embassy of Ireland in Abu Dhabi continues to closely monitor regional developments and advises all Irish citizens resident in the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait to register them and their families on our Citizen’s Register at https://citizensregistration.dfa.ie/
