A render of how the new Aldi store at Dooradoyle will appear
ALDI has been granted planning permission for a new €11.5m store in one of Limerick's busiest suburbs.
An Bord Pleanala cleared the way for the discount retailer to begin to develop its new store, which will be located at Dooradoyle Road.
It's estimated 30 jobs will be created when it opens. Some 50 staff will work on the construction of the site, which is a previously unused greenfield land.

Nine electric vehicle charging points are planned, along with 10 bike parking spaces. There will also be 87 car parking spaces for customers.
It's the second piece of good news locally for Aldi this year.
Back in February, it received planning permission for its new store in Moyross, although that permission is now the subject of High Court action.
Commenting, Colin Breslin, managing director of buying and services at Aldi Ireland said: "We’re delighted to receive the final grant of planning permission today for our new store in Dooradoyle. Every new Aldi store that opens brings greater choice, quality, and value to shoppers."
"This, along with construction on our new Roches Street store, and Moyross due to commence shortly, will more than double our footprint in Limerick City over the next two years," he said.
