Thomas Hartigan
INDEPENDENT Ireland have confirmed their second candidate in the Adare/Rathkeale area for the upcoming Local Election.
Thomas (Tommy) Hartigan will run for the party alongside Councillor John O'Donoghue in the electoral area.
Mr Hartigan, from Pallaskenry, is a passionate advocate for rural Ireland and his local community
"I am running as an Independent Ireland candidate because I believe that being a young candidate gives me the ability to represent and work with all people to get the best possible results for our community," expressed Mr Hartigan.
"I am passionate about rural Ireland and don't feel we are being heard on the political stage. Independent Ireland gives me the support of a party structure while still allowing me to retain my principles and priorities in working for the people of Limerick to deliver the full support and positive change I believe our community needs.
"Politics isn't about suits and meetings; it's about you and me—the people who are affected by the decisions made.
"I feel that I have something to bring to you, the people of the district. I can't promise you much except my best. In my humble opinion, it's not about you or me; it's about us."
Mr Hartigan's key areas of focus include protecting rural identity and tradition, creating local jobs and opportunities, supporting grassroots clubs and communities, and promoting sustainable actions regarding climate change and biodiversity.
Additionally, he aims to improve infrastructure, particularly in areas of transportation, mental health, and services for both the young and elderly.

General Secretary Richard O'Donoghue commented: "We are thrilled to welcome Thomas Hartigan as our second candidate for the Adare/Rathkeale electoral area.
"His passion for rural issues and dedication to community development align perfectly with the values of our party. We are confident that he will be a strong voice for the people of Limerick County."
