THE LIMERICK Literary Festival celebrated its 40th anniversary this year with a series of events.

The festival, formerly known as The Kate O’Brien Weekend, began in 1984 to mark the 10th anniversary of the death of Limerick-born writer Kate O’Brien.

The festival honours the life and works of the author while attracting prominent participants from home and abroad.

Photographer Brendan Gleeson attended one of the events at  the Belltable in Limerick city.
