Cigarettes worth €20,000 seized by revenue officers in Limerick

REVENUE officers have seized 26,000 cigarettes worth €20,000 during a search of a ship at Foynes Port.

The cigarettes, branded “L& M” represent a potential loss to the exchequer of over €16,000, were seized by officials based at Shannon Airport, on Sunday.

Revenue officers based at Shannon Airport have also seized 1kg of herbal cannabis on Monday. The drugs, with an estimated value of €20,000, were discovered in parcels originating from the USA and were destined for an address in Cork.

The parcels were uncovered as a result of risk profiling.

Investigations into all of these seizures are ongoing.
