THOMAS Street in Limerick city has reopened following emergency works, the council has confirmed in a statement this Sunday morning.

A spokesperson said: "Limerick City and County Council can confirm that one lane of Thomas Street (between Anne St and Wickham St) is now re-opened to traffic, while one footpath, on that same section, is now also open to the public.

"Part of the street was closed on Friday evening so that emergency works could be carried out.”

Limerick Live understands issues were identified with two buildings - both of which are out of use - and further assessment was required.

In order to do this, the street needed to be closed to get the containers in to do works.
