CULTURE Night in Limerick is set to amaze once again with a lineup of over 60 live events, showcasing the vibrant arts and culture scene of the city and county.
The eagerly awaited Culture Night 2023 is scheduled for Friday, September 22, and promises an exciting array of activities that cater to all ages and tastes.
Organised by the Limerick Arts Office at Limerick City and County Council, Culture Night is a yearly celebration that invites residents and visitors alike to explore the cultural, artistic, and creative treasures of Limerick. Galleries, museums, workshops, and studios will open their doors, welcoming both established patrons and newcomers to immerse themselves in a night of cultural richness.
At the heart of the evening's program are two late-night events, set to captivate attendees. King John's Castle will be the backdrop for a live music concert, featuring an impressive lineup of local and national live electronic music acts. Produced by the Limerick Arts Office in collaboration with SIONNA Festival, this free event is now in its third year and promises an unforgettable night with artists such as Spray, B2B, Holly Lester, Chaz Maloney, Brawni, and Bon Voyage.
Meanwhile, the "Top 8 Culture Night" event will be a fusion of dance performances, including Irish dance, Hip Hop, Break Dance, Afro fusion, and All Styles. Afterward, the party will continue at the Record Room at the Commercial Bar, where local and invited DJs, along with a saxophonist, will provide the soundtrack to the early hours of the morning.
Additional live hubs of activity will be scattered throughout Limerick, from interactive exhibitions and the Pigtown Culture & Food Series.
Culture Night won't be confined to the city; the county is also set to come alive with a variety of events. Towns like Cappamore, Kilmallock, Croom, Newcastle West, and Abbeyfeale will host a diverse range of cultural experiences.
Newcastle West will offer taster workshops in crafts and activities for young people, accompanied by music and exhibitions at the Red Door Gallery. Garryspillane will resonate with traditional music and dance at the Glenbrohane community hall. Ballyneety's Men's Shed will open its doors for an evening of music and art, and Cappamore will feature a demonstration of Forge and blacksmithing courses by the LCETB.
