Family queries the effects of Covid vaccine at Limerick inquest

Kilmallock Court

A RELATIVE of a man, in his late 80s, who died in University Hospital Limerick, told his inquest that he will never forgive the doctor who gave the now deceased man the flu and Covid vaccine on the same day.

The inquest into the death of the Limerick man heard that he had fractured his left femur in a fall and was taken to University Hospital Limerick where he later passed away.

Consultant Pathologist, Dr Teresa Laszlo said the cause of death was cardiac failure with stress from the fall being a contributing factor.

A family member told the inquest - at Kilmallock Courthouse - that the deceased received the Covid and flu vaccine on the same day some time before the fall.

“I’ll never forgive that doctor. It brought all this on. The fracture was very slight,” said the family member, who added that he had heard that the Covid vaccine had caused blood clots in Italy.

Dr Laszlo said there was a long-standing aortic valve abnormality but no blood clots.

A different family member said their loved one had had a chest X-ray, bloods taken, an ECG and he was passed for surgery on his hip fracture the day before he died.

He was later “found unresponsive” in UHL. “We are at a complete loss. I spoke to him the night before,” one said.

Mr McNamara said when somebody older suffers a hip fracture it can cause a lot of stress.

He also spoke of the man’s enlarged heart and while he might not have been suffering obvious symptoms they were underneath.

“There is no evidence before me of vaccines being a contributory factor. There are no signs of blood clots,” said Mr McNamara.

The family member who said he will never forgive the doctor said he would never forgive himself for allowing him to get the vaccines.

“He (deceased) told me his balance got very bad since he got the vaccines,” said the family member.

Mr McNamara recorded a verdict of natural causes due to cardiac failure.

“If it is any consolation it was quite sudden,” said Mr McNamara, who expressed his sincere condolences.

Inspector Gearoid Thompson extended his sympathies on behalf of An Garda Siochana.
