Mike Walsh, team leader, who advises those in need to ‘explore life and coping skills'
PROVIDING 10 years of support to 13 - 24-year-olds affected by substance misuse is what one group can reflect on this May.
Community Substance Misuse Team (CSMT) currently helps, on average, 150 young people in Limerick and the wider Mid-West region at a time with their addiction struggles.
CSMT have offices in Arthur’s Quay, Limerick city centre.
Originally established in 2012, the group is managed by parent organisation Clondalkin Addiction Support Programme (CASP).
An event has taken place in Limerick’s City Hall to mark the anniversary where guest speakers, including Mayor of Limerick Cllr Francis Foley, learned more about the work that both CSMT and CASP do.
“Today is a day to look at how far we have come. We are launching our intervention model, which covers all the reasons why we are in the Mid-West, what we do, and for who,” said CSMT Team Leader, Mike Walsh.
It is reported that 66% of people are seeking help for cannabis use with alcohol.
