Limerick and Cork by birth, Munster by Grace of God

Limerick and Cork by birth, Munster by Grace of God

May the best team win: Limerick's Craig Casey and Cork's Gavin Coombes I PICTURE: Instagram

MUNSTER'S Craig Casey and Gavin Coombes went to war together in South Africa on Saturday but this Sunday all bets are off!

Craig Casey shared a photo on his Instagram page of him wearing the green of Limerick and Cork's Gavin Coombes donning a Rebel jersey.

"D-Day! Luimneach Abú," wrote the scrum half with a photo of them shaking hands.

Still on cloud nine after Munster were crowned United Rugby Championship winners in South Africa after defeating the Stormers, Craig's photo emphasises the importance of the second big match this weekend.

It is make or break for Limerick's and Cork's hurlers who go toe-to-toe this afternoon in the TUS Gaelic Grounds.

Conor Murray also wished the Limerick hurlers and his fellow Patrickswell men Aaron Gillane, Cian Lynch and Diarmaid Byrnes well on Instagram. Accompanying a photo of himself, Keith Earls, Dave Kilcoyne and Craig Casey, Conor wrote "H'on Limerick".

Munster bridged a gap of 12 long years to become champions again. The Cork players in the Munster squad will be hoping their county's senior hurling famine will end this year, beginning with a defeat of Limerick this Sunday.

Conor, Craig, et al will be hoping the glory days for Limerick can continue by staying in the All-Ireland championship.
