There will be a new owner dropping anchor at Portboy, Herbertstown after it sold at auction for €570,000
A FORTY-SEVEN acre holding at Portboy, Herbertstown has been sold at auction for a figure of €570,000.
The man with the gavel in his hand - GVM's Tom Crosse described the land as “mixed with 50% very good and the remaining heavy and needing drainage”.
There is a derelict one bed bungalow together with some old sheds and a yard. Bidding opened at €350,000.

Two bidders moved the figure to €500,000 when the property was formally placed on the market.
After 14 further bids both online and in the room the gavel fell at €570,000.
The Leader understands the buyer is a local beef farmer. Mr Crosse described the price achieved as “very satisfactory given the mix of land”.
He added that he has “disappointed underbidders seeking similar type holdings”.
