CHECK out the newest movie to hit our cinema screens this Friday, April 7, which was partially filmed in Limerick!
Hollywood A-Lister Russell Crowe stars in the new supernatural horror film, The Pope’s Exorcist, which hits Irish cinemas on Good Friday.
Filmed in the historical ruins of Dromore Castle, located in the parish of Kildimo/Pallaskenry, the new movie has already caught the attention of avid movie goers who are eager to see the Limerick landmark on the big screen.
The preview for the movie is intriguing, as the ominous looking Limerick castle looms over the landscape below.
When Russell Crowe visited Limerick, he made his presence known by going to city centre pubs and acquainting himself with locals. The actor is best known for his Oscar winning role in Gladiator, 2001.
Over 40 cast and crew members were shooting scenes in the gothic style Limerick location last August, with the first look at the scenic views of the Limerick castle now available for all to see ahead of the movie's official release date.
The chilling new horror movie was directed by Julius Avery and is based on a real-life priest Fr Gabriele Amorth, who acted as chief exorcist of the Vatican and who performed more than 100,000 exorcisms in his lifetime.
The Pope’s Exorcist depicts the scenic Dromore Castle and surrounding green hills in a dark but intriguing light as per the theme of the film. Audiences around the world will see the greenery and will most likely be impressed by the scenic views!
