Chrissie Hynde formed the band in 1978
AN English-American rock band will be “one of the biggest acts to ever play Dolans” for a “unique and intimate” show.
For a “unique and intimate” show, The Pretenders will play in Dolans Warehouse on Friday, May 19.
Speaking of the announcement, Mick Dolan said it is “a massive plus for both Limerick and the venue, without doubt one of the biggest acts to ever play Dolans. This is not to be missed.”
Ohio born singer-songwriter and guitarist, Chrissie Hynde, formed The Pretenders in London in 1978 with Hereford natives, James Honeyman-Scott on guitar, Pete Farndon on bass, and drummer Martin Chambers.
Released in January 1980, their debut album was the first UK number one album of the decade and garnered critical acclaim in Europe, the USA, Australia and beyond.
Over the years, the group’s personnel and dynamic has changed, particularly after the “drug related deaths” of Honeyman-Scott and Farndon in 1983.
A constant force and the band’s focal point, Hynde has maintained the original Pretenders unique guitar-based sound in the style of Honeyman-Scott. She has recorded 17 studio albums, primarily with The Pretenders, and has guested with numerous other artists, including Frank Sinatra and Moreno Veloso.
Released in July 2020, The Pretenders’ latest album, Hate for Sale, has ensured they continue to enjoy international airplay and the band continues to sell out venues across the world.
Tickets will be on sale this Wednesday, March 22 at 10am via dolans.ie
