Limerick is bathed in glorious light during Riverfest 2015 Picture: Alan Place/FusionShooters
ALTHOUGH St Patrick’s Day is right on the horizon, it won’t be long until another big festival takes place in the city.
Riverfest will once again draw tens of thousands of people to Limerick across the Bank Holiday weekend from Friday, April 28 to Monday, May 1.
Ahead of the celebrations, council has outlined its intention to close a number of riverside streets to facilitate events.
A vehicle ban is planned from Howley’s Quay from its junction with Lower Cecil Street to Shannon Street between Friday, April 28 at 9pm and the following day at 11pm. Clancy Strand, Sarsfield Bridge and Honan’s Quay are set to be closed to vehicular access on the evening of Sunday, April 30, between 9.30pm and 11pm.
More closures are to be announced in order to facilitate the Great Limerick Run which will take place on the same day.
Pedestrian access will be maintained, and emergency service vehicles will be allowed to use the streets. People can have their say by calling 061-556000.
