TRIBUTES have poured in for former publican Dermot 'Dobs' O'Brien following his sad passing on Sunday.
Mr O'Brien passed away peacefully at University Hospital Limerick following an illness, surrounded by his loving family, including his daughter Sinead, a well-known influencer also known as Sinead Curvy Style.
Residing in Patrickswell, Mr O'Brien was formerly of Castle Street and The Arch Bar on William Street in Limerick city.
This is the second tragedy to strike the family in recent times after Mr O'Brien's son-in-law Tom Tierney passed away suddenly in his sleep on February 24.
Sinead was attending a family wedding in Australia when she got the news that her sister Mary's husband had passed away. She cut her trip short to make the return journey home to Ireland last week to be with her sister and family.
The influencer paid tribute to her father and her brother-in-law in an emotional social media post this Monday.
"The greatest man I have ever known! Dad you held me for my first breath and I held you for your last, and I know you’ll forever wrap your arms around me and mind me, until we meet again.
"My beautiful dad went to sleep yesterday with all of us by his side. He will forever be in our hearts, my greatest love, my best friend, my everything, my dad."
Sinead continued: "He fought so hard since November, so much so the doctors were scratching their heads while he pulled through time and time again. But that was my dad - STRONG.
"He wanted to live for all of us because he had so much to live for. Life can be so cruel, and we never saw any of this coming.
"The cards we have been dealt this past week are incomprehensible but we will pull through together as a family for our two best men. Dobs and Tierney, we love you."
The Vacious by Sinead founder thanked her friends and followers for their kind words following her family's loss.
"Nobody knows more how much I know you all loved him too. I can say hand on heart that I am sure many of you are also grieving my dad.
"I have so much to share here and I'll always keep his memory alive. He loved the craic on Instagram and loved even more when people noticed him out and about. He loved the attention!"
Tributes have poured in online for the beloved man who was known by many throughout the city and county.
Lifestyle blogger Louise Cooney said: "Absolutely heartbroken for you and the family, life is so cruel.
"One thing for sure, he left an amazing mark on the world and he’ll live on in you and your amazing family. Love you so much. He is so proud of you."
Blogger Julie Haynes said she was "heartbroken" after hearing the news of Dermot's death.
"I have no words to say to take your pain away. I know how incredibly close ye all were, he was a legend and a joy to watch when he appeared on the gram.
"Your wonderful boy Jacob will give you so much strength to get you through your dark days, I am sending you so much love."
Sadly missed by his loving wife Rose, cherished daughters Lorna, Mary and Sinéad, adored grandchildren Isabel and Julia, Aubrey and Bláthnat and Jacob, brother Greg, sons-in-law, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and his many friends.
Reposing at Griffin’s Funeral Home, John’s Gate on Tuesday, March 7, from 4.30pm.
Removal to Church of the Blessed Virgin, Patrickswell at 6:30pm. Requiem Mass will take place on Wednesday, March 8 at 11am, streamed live here. Burial afterwards in Patrickswell Cemetery.
