For Scoil Pól, Kilfinane the Young Scientist success continues with four of its projects being selected for this month's exhibition at the RDS.

One of three teachers supervising the projects, Aisling O’Connor, said it was lovely to be nominated again.

Speaking of the students, she told the Limerick Leader: "We have four projects through this year, and they’re all transition year students. They’ve been working on them since September, and they found out at the end of October who got through."

Delighted to have four projects going through, the teacher hopes the students will do well in January.

“We did very well last year with our BT crowd. One of our group came first in their category, and another got highly commended. So, we’re hoping that we’ll do as well this year, if not better.”

Students Eoin O’Leary, Shane Tobin, Paul Sheahan, Amy Mulcahy, Caoimhe O’Connor, Cliona Heffernan, Stella Hehir, Emma Hanley, Sophie Collins, Evan Lowe and David O’Brien, are looking forward to going up to the event and having a great experience.

Alongside fellow teachers, Grace Harvey and Jenny Kelly, Ms. O’Connor has been helping her students navigate through their projects. “The three of us were called last year as well. We’re involved, but the kids come up with the ideas. We help them and give them advice based on our own experience over the years of entering and being involved with science competitions,” she concluded.
