TIGER Woods has revealed that the PGA of America has “asked for my input” on the 2027 Ryder Cup captaincy but has still to decide if he can do the job “justice” at Adare Manor.
From the moment it was announced that the centenary edition would be hosted at the JP McManus-owned resort in County Limerick, Woods has been the favourite to captain the United States in this particular match.
An official move has now been made by the PGA of America, but it has come at a time when Woods is heavily involved in PGA Tour matters, serving as vice chairman of the PGA Tour Enterprises board and chairman of a new Future Competitions Committee.

Speaking in his role as host of this week’s Genesis Invitational at Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles, Woods said of the Ryder Cup captaincy: “Yeah, they have asked me for my input on it, and I haven't made my decision yet.
“I'm trying to figure out what we're trying to do with our tour. That's been driving me hours upon hours every day and trying to figure out if I can actually do our team, our Team USA and our players and everyone that's going to be involved in the Ryder Cup, if I can do it justice with my time.
“Serving on two boards and what I'm doing for the PGA Tour, I'm trying to figure out if I can actually do this and serve the people that are involved and serve them at an honourable level.”
Woods isn’t playing in this week’s 100th anniversary of a PGA Tour event in Los Angeles as he continues to take small steps following disc replacement back surgery in October.
“Yeah, I’m able to,” replied the 15-time major winner to being asked if he was able to hit full shots again. “Not well every day, but I can hit them.” He said he doesn’t have a target yet for returning but, asked if The Masters in April was off the table, replied “no”.
