KNOCK-OUT action begins in the Irish Wire Products Limerick senior football championship this weekend. Fr Casey's face St Kieran's in the first of this weekend's quarter-finals on Saturday in Athea at 3pm.

Casey’s have gotten things back on a track after a difficult defeat to Adare, last year's county finalists registered two draws and two wins to book their place in the quarter-finals. Mark McCarthy, Rory O'Brien and Diarmuid Buckley are crucial players for the Abbeyfeale side, while former Limerick footballer Darragh Treacy and John Hayes have chipped in with crucial scores throughout the SFC for St Kieran's.

Despite failing to win their last two Group Two games, St Kieran’s early run of two wins and a draw ensured their progression to the knock-out stages. The winners of Fr Casey's and St Kieran's take on Newcastle West in the SFC semi-final on Saturday November 1 at 3pm in Mick Neville Park.

Meanwhile, city clubs Monaleen and Mungret St Paul's face off in Ballybrown GAA Club on Sunday afternoon at 2pm in the other quarter-final.

Mungret St Paul's finished in second place in group two, while Monaleen came in third place in group one. Killian Ryan, Jason Hassett, Darragh O'Hagan, Jack McCarthy and Ronan McElligott form a strong spine for Kevin O'Hagan's Mungret side. Mungret will be aiming to book their place in the semi-finals of the championship for the second year running.

Monaleen have been boosted by Donnacha Ó Dálaigh and Luke Murphy joining up with the club's footballers since they were knocked out of the hurling championship. However, Darragh Murray and Darragh O’Siochru remain sidelined through long term injuries for Monaleen.

Meanwhile, the winners of Monaleen and Mungret St Paul's face county champions Adare in the SFC semi-final on Saturday November 1 in Askeaton at 3pm.

The county final then takes place on Sunday November 9. The senior football relegation semi-finals take place on Saturday, with Kildimo-Pallaskenry meeting Na Piarsaigh in Mungret at 12pm and Oola taking on Ballylanders in Bruff at 3pm.
