Limerick youth facing assault charges will appear before the Circuit Court

The teenager appeared before Newcastle West District Court

A FILE will be sent forward to the current sitting of Limerick Circuit Court for a juvenile who is charged with assault.

The 16-year-old who cannot be named because of his age, was served the book of evidence at Newcastle West District Court.

Inspector Barry Manton told the court that the DPP has instructed that the case be sent forward for trial at the Circuit Court.

Bail with the same conditions was extended.

These bail conditions included abiding by a curfew between 8pm and 8am, having a mobile phone charged and in credit with him at all times, and remaining at an address provided to the court in Rathkeale.

An incorrect previous address, which was listed as the current address, was also corrected for the record.

Solicitor Michael O’Donnell was granted legal aid for himself and one junior counsel by Judge Karen Dowling.

The case was heard in-camera at Newcastle West District Court and the young man's mother accompanied him.
