FORMER Limerick football managers Mark Fitzgerald and Maurice Horan have both taken up coaching roles with the Kerry U20 football team ahead of the 2026 season.

Mark Fitzgerald continues his role on the Kerry U20 backroom team. Tomás Ó Sé has added Horan to his backroom team. Former Kerry footballer Mike Frank Russell is also part of Ó Sé's backroom team. Ó Sé enters his fourth year in charge of the Kingdom, having guided Kerry to the All-Ireland final in 2024 and to All-Ireland semi-final defeats in both 2023 and 2025.
Fitzgerald took over as Limerick senior football manager when Ray Dempsey stepped down as manager just five months into the job in 2023. Limerick reached the Tailteann Cup quarter-final under Fitzgerald in 2023 where they were narrowly defeated by Laois in the Tailteann Cup quarter-final. The Kerins O’Rahilly’s native took charge of the Clare senior footballers in 2024, guiding them to a Munster final where Kerry ultimately proved too strong.
Maurice Horan was previously in charge of the Limerick senior footballers from 2010 to 2013. Horan led the Shannonsiders to a Division 4 league title in 2013 and he coached Adare to a Limerick Senior Football Championship title last year. He remains part of Harry Gleeson's backroom team with the Adare senior footballers this year.
Meanwhile, Tomás Ó Sé's brother Marc has been announced as the new Kerry minor football manager on a two-year term.
