The open training session is being held as part of the team's preparation for the county's first-ever Tailteann Cup final appearance.

The Shannonsiders will face Kildare in the final on Saturday, July 12 in Croke Park.

Jimmy Lee's side have been in fine form throughout the competition, recording three wins from three in the group phase against London, Antrim and Westmeath before dispatching of Wexford and Wicklow in the quarter-final and semi-final respectively.

It now sets up what is sure to be a mouth-watering clash with 'The Lilywhites' on July 12 at GAA HQ.

Speaking to RTÉ the aftermath of Sunday's win over Oisín McConville's Wicklow side, Jimmy Lee said he was 'extremely proud' of his team.

"We're extremely proud of them, we've shown that all year since our game Wicklow in the league where we dug in and we were resilient," he said.

"It' great for some of the lads out there, the likes of Josh (Ryan) scoring that two-pointer, it was only two and a half years ago he had broken his leg in three places and he has worked his socks off to get back.

"There's others there like Iain (Corbett) who tore the hamstring off the bone going back a while, these lads climb mountains and they're doing it week-in, week-out," he added.
