Ray Dempsey has left his role has Limerick senior football manager
LIMERICK GAA have announced the departure of senior football manager Ray Dempsey. The Mayo man only took the job last October but has now left the role.
Kerry's Mark Fitzgerald will take over on an interim basis. He was part of Dempsey's backroom team and is a former Kingdom minor selector.
Limerick GAA said the following in a statement this afternoon: "Limerick GAA wish to announce that Senior Football Management have stepped down with immediate effect.
"Limerick GAA would like to thank them for their commitment to the job and wish them well in the future. Mark Fitzgerald will take up the position of manager until the end of the season.
"Limerick GAA will be making no further comment."
The senior footballers have struggled with life in Division 2 of the Allianz Football League, losing four of their opening five games. The only exception was a draw with Meath in their last game.
Limerick currently sit bottom of the table after their five games to date with two games left to play against Kildare and Clare in the coming weeks.
