Three Limerick schools begin Dr Harty Cup campaigns today

THREE Limerick schools begin their Dr Harty Cup Munster post primary schools senior 'A' hurling campaigns today, Wednesday.

There is an all-Limerick first round group fixture when John the Baptist CS, Hospital take on Castletroy College. The game has a late change of venue and throw-in time and will now take place at ULs North Campus at 1.30pm today.

The Limerick rivals are drawn in Group E of the prestigious competition alongside CBS Secondary School, Carrick-on-Suir.

Elsewhere this Wednesday, five-time Dr Harty Cup winners Ardscoil Ris face St Flannan's College in Sixmilebridge at 1.30pm.

Ardscoil, who are a seeded team in the competition as a result of reaching the semi-finals last year, are in Group C along with De la Salle Waterford and Colaiste Choilm Ballincollig.

Meanwhile, the scheduled meeting of Scoil na Tríonóide Naofa (SNTN), of Doon, and CBC, of Cork, due to take place in Ballygiblin at 1.30pm on today, Wednesday, has been postponed due to an unplayable pitch. SNTN are competing in Group A along with Midleton CBS, Rice College Ennis.

There are a total of 21 teams competing in the Dr Harty Cup this year, divided into three groups with four teams in each and three groups with three teams in each.

Four of the group winners will qualify for the Quarter-Finals with the two remaining group winners and 6 runners-up contesting the Preliminary Quarter-Finals
