Stack told Leader Sport: "They are the most athletically gifted group of sixth class kids we have ever had. They have brilliant individual skills but also a great team ethos and they always put the team first.”

The boys in Monaleen NS have won the hurling city and county cups, the Gaelic football city and county competitions, the five-a-side soccer city, county and Munster cups ass well as finishing second in the Plassey Athletics team event.

The five-a-side soccer team, through their Munster win, were then chosen to represent the province in the Aviva Stadium where they competed against other schools from across the country.

Monaleen placed third in the competition under the guidance of Tommy himself.

On the girls side, the school won the Gaelic Football city and county cups and also came away with a win at the Plassey Athletics team event.

Tommy continued by stating: “ We have a core of 20 teachers that get involved in the coaching every year as we have 900 students. We are supported very well by management in the school as we know how important it is in developing confidence.”
