NATIONAL Heritage Week is well and truly underway and there are still so many hidden gems still waiting for the people of Limerick to enjoy.
A treasure trove of events are scheduled and for the coming days, which the family can enjoy.
Whether you're a history buff, a curious local, or simply looking for a unique way to spend the day, Limerick city and county has some exciting events in store until August 25.
With the support of Limerick City and County Council (LCCC), outdoor events and educational workshops will take people from Limerick down a ‘wild’ route of all things nature.
On Saturday, August 24, a free biodiversity and climate action course will be held in Summerville Rovers FC club, 124 Ballinacurra Gardens.

This course will be run by horticulturist and environmentalist, Aoife Munn and will cover topics including: low maintenance planting, creating habitats for wildlife, growing your own fruit trees and vegetables and waste reduction.
The course will be a combination of indoor and outdoor practical activities and booking is required, as places are limited.
On Sunday, bringing National Heritage Week to a close, LCCC will have a sustainability tent at the Limerick Show in Limerick Racecourse.
Learn about wildlife, pollinators, composting and managing and preventing food waste, while meeting the people behind the scenes of Bat Rehabilitation Ireland, ReLove Paint and other local development companies.
With a buzz of different activities, there’s no better time to dig deep into nature and learn more about how to think sustainably.
