RIP
The death has occurred of Rita Kirby née O'Connor of Clancy Strand and O'Connell Avenue, Limerick city.
Rita has passed on from us to Tom and to God in Heaven in a characteristically understated and peaceful manner, on Tuesday, April 7, 2026.
Her wisdom, humour and warmth will be sorely missed by all those whose lives she touched but we are glad that she has been reunited with the love of her life. She leaves behind many broken-hearted people who loved her especially those who were privileged to have her in their family lives for so long – her children Elizabeth, Jimmy, Ruth, Ted and Joanne, her grandchildren Jamie, Kiya, Anita, Joel and Theo; nieces especially Annemaree and Marie; daughter-in-law Rebecca, sons-in-law Ray and Doug, siblings Marie and Ita; and precious friends Mishi, Jasmin, Noreen, Deirdre and Leticia.
Rita will repose at her home, ‘Northfield’, Clancy Strand, Limerick (V94 EF8V) on Sunday, April 12, from 3.30pm to 6pm. There will be drinks at the house as Rita would have wanted. The funeral will leave Northfield, walking up Clancy Strand, on Monday April 13, to arrive at St Munchin’s Church for Requiem Mass at 11am. Burial after, for family only, at Abington Cemetery, Murroe.
