RIP: Limerick deaths and funeral details, Friday, January 23, 2026

The death has occurred of Catherine Costelloe (née O'Donnell)

Of St Columcille Street, St Mary’s Park and formerly of St. Munchin’s Street, St Mary’s Park.

On January 23, 2026, peacefully, at Milford Care Centre, surrounded by family.

Pre-deceased by husband Gerald, granddaughter Shannon, parents Joe and Kitty and brother Patrick.

Very deeply regretted by grandson Gerard, granddaughter Tia, children Michelle, Sandra, Jason, Sharon and Catherine, fifteen grandchildren, two great grandchildren, brothers, sisters, nephews, nieces, other relatives, friends and neighbours.

May she rest in peace

Reposing at Cross’s Funeral Home, Lower Gerald Griffin Street, Monday, January 26, from 3.30pm to 5pm, followed by removal to St Mary’s Church, Athlunkard Street.

Requiem Mass Tuesday, January 27, at 11am, followed by private cremation.

Catherine’s family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Dr Toomey, Dr Scott, the Nursing Staff of Milford Care Centre, O’Sullivan’s Pharmacy, King’s Island and Audrey Magill for her support and love.

No flowers please. Donations, if desired, to Milford Care Centre in Catherine’s memory.

Attendees are requested to wear something pink in Catherine’s memory.

Catherine’s funeral cortége will pass the family home after Mass to enable friends and neighbours to pay their respects.

The death has occurred of Noreen Murphy (née O’Sullivan)

Of Newtown, Clarina and formerly of Garryglass, Waterville, Co Kerry.

On January 22, 2026 unexpectedly but peacefully at University Hospital Limerick, surrounded by her loving family.

Beloved wife of Jim. Dearly loved mother of Gráinne, Emer, Mairéad and Íde. Noreen will be sadly missed by her sons-in-law Barry and Enda, Íde’s fiancé Tim, her adored grandchildren Charlie, Maeve, Ciara and Ivy, brother Micheál (Mike), sisters Maureen, Margaret, Bridget, Catherine, Helen and the late Sheila, Jim’s brother Mick, sister-in-law Colette, brothers-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended family, her much-loved neighbours in Newtown along with her many friends.

May she rest in peace.

Reposing in St Joseph’s Church, Ballybrown on Monday, January 26 from 5:15pm to 7:15pm. Requiem Mass will take place on Tuesday, January 27 at 12 noon followed by burial in Kilkeedy Cemetery.

A memorial mass for Noreen will be held in Kerry at a later stage.

The death has occurred of Nellie Shanahan (née Ahern)

Of Drehidtrasna, Adare

Peacefully on January 22, 2026 in the exceptional care of all the staff at St Ita's Newcastle West. Predeceased by her husband Phil and daughter Marie.

Sadly missed by her loving children, Pat, Ann, Barry, Barbara, Helen and Philip, sister Kate, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, extended family, neighbours and many friends.

May her gentle soul rest in peace.

Reposing at The Holy Trinity Church, Adare, this Sunday January 25, from 2pm. Requiem Mass will follow at 3pm. Burial afterwards in St Nicholas Cemetery.

Of Ballymartin, Pallaskenry

On January 22, 2026 peacefully at University Hospital Limerick, surrounded by his loving family. Sadly missed by his brother Seanie, sister Mary (Culhane), brother in law Gerard, nephew Thomas, nieces Michelle and Mairead and adored grandnephew Jamie, Maireads' partner Michael O'Farrell, cousins, neighbours and friends.

May he rest in peace.

Reposing Sunday evening, January 25, from 5.30pm to 7pm in St John the Baptist Church, Kilcornan, V94 K2V9. Requiem Mass Monday, January 26, at 12 noon followed by burial in local cemetery.

On January 22, peacefully at the Park Nursing Home.

Beloved wife of the late Dan. Sadly missed by her loving sister Claire, brother Joe, sisters-in-law Mary and Marie, brother-in-law Pa, nephews, nieces, extended family and friends.

May she rest in peace.

Reposing at Thompson’s Funeral Home, Thomas Street on Sunday, January 25 from 4.30pm to 6pm. Funeral arriving at St Mary Magdalene Church, Monaleen on Monday, January 26 for requiem Mass at 11am followed by burial in Kilmurry Old Cemetery.
