THREE people continue to be questioned by gardai this Friday after a van was driven at a security fence in Shannon Airport.
Three people were arrested following the security breach at the airport.
Shannon Airport was closed for a time after the incident, which happened on Thursday evening.
A garda spokesperson said officers responded to an incident of criminal damage at Shannon Airport, County Clare that occurred shortly before 6.30pm on Thursday, May 2025.
“Three individuals were subsequently arrested and are currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at a garda station in County Clare,” said a garda spokesperson.

The front of the van managed to breach the security fence, however, the vehicle was stopped by a trench inside the barrier.
It is understood a number of people wearing orange jump suits, hard hats and scarves over their faces jumped out of the van.
Airport police immediately responded and the three individuals were quickly arrested.
A statement issued on behalf of Shannon Airport said that Shannon Airport has resumed normal operations following the incident.
The statement confirmed the attendance of gardai.
"The airport suspended operations at 6.30pm and a number of flights were delayed as a result. The situation was promptly addressed by gardai and operations fully resumed at 7.30pm," outlined the statement.
