UPDATE: Post-mortem conducted on body of Rathkeale woman who died following hit-and-run

A POST-MORTEM has been conducted on the body of Rathkeale woman Marguerita Sheridan who died following a hit-and-run incident in the town.

The autopsy was carried out by State Pathologist, Dr Sally Ann Collis, on Sunday.

The results of the post-mortem are not being released for operational reasons, according to gardai, who continue to investigate the fatal incident that occurred on Saturday in the west Limerick town.

Meanwhile, a man in his 40s continues to be detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at a garda station in County Limerick.

Gardaí continue to appeal for any witnesses to this incident to come forward.

Any road users or pedestrians who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were in the Rathkeale area between 11:30am and 1:00pm are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
