Limerick gardai forced to carry bare-chested man after incident

FIVE Limerick gardai were forced to carry a bare-chested to an awaiting patrol van following an incident in the city.

A garda spokesperson confirmed officers responded to reports of an incident of criminal damage in the Grove Island area of Limerick city shortly before 9am on Friday, July 26.

"A man in his 30s was arrested at the scene a short time later for public order offences and taken to a garda station in Limerick city.

"The man has since been charged in connection with the incident and released from Garda custody to appear before Limerick District Court on the morning of Monday, July 29," said the garda spokesperson.

A video of the incident has been widely shared on social media.

It shows at least five garda vehicles and an ambulance at the scene. The footage shows five officers carrying the man by his arms and legs away from the scene of the incident.
