A JUDGE has warned a woman who was driving while disqualified that she doesn't want to meet her again.

On May 4, 2024, Gina Daly of Kilmurry, Feenagh, was driving in Croom with no driving licence or insurance and had been disqualifed from driving at the time for a 2022 conviction.

The court heard that the mother-of-four has 31 previous convictions - 19 of which were for road traffic offences.

Judge Nicola Jane Andrews told Newcastle West District Court: “She doesn't seem to completely grasp the concept of needing a licence or to be insured, to drive a vehicle.”

Solicitor for Ms Daly, Michael O'Donnell told the court that the 26-year-old has four children ranging in age from one to nine.

Mr O'Donnell said that on the day in question, Ms Daly was going to get medicine for one of her children for bronchilitis.

The judge commented that she seems to show such a disregard for the law and a driving disqualification that she struggled to see how she could stop her from driving.

“She has a complete disdain for other drivers and is an absolute liability,” Judge Andrews said.

Ms Daly was convicted and fined €500, with six months to pay, and given a six-month prison sentence suspended for 24 months, subject to Ms Daly not coming to court attention between now and December 19.

Ms Daly was also disqualified from driving for four years and remanded on bail to appear on December 19.
