Big present delivered to charity from Jingle Bell Jog in Limerick

Ellie Carmody and Kerri Larkin, Jingle Bell Jog organisers, present a cheque to Breda Blessing and Liz Kelly, both of Mid-Western Cancer Foundation

CHRISTMAS carols won’t be sung for another 11 months but the monies raised from a Jingle Bell Jog will be felt all year.

The now annual jog around the Three Bridges in Limerick city, organised by Kerri Larkin and Ellie Carmody, took place on Christmas Day.

The fundraiser for Mid Western Cancer Foundation garnered €2770 with runners, joggers and strollers enjoying festive cheer as they made their way along the 3km route.

Kerri said nearly everyone is affected by cancer, either through family or friends and the Jingle Bell Jog “enables us to give back”.

“The Mid Western Cancer Foundation both fundraises for and delivers support services to people who are undergoing or have had a cancer diagnosis, as well as to their families and friends. We're already planning for the Mid Western Cancer Foundation Butterfly Ball in September and thinking ahead to the next Jingle Bell Jog in December 2026,” said Kerri.

Liz Kelly, of Mid Western Cancer Foundation, said they are hugely grateful to Kerri, her family and friends and to the many joggers and walkers who turned out for the now annual Jingle Bell Jog on Christmas Day.

“Luckily the sun shone and the jog set us up for dinner! Together with the runners, local businesses were hugely generous with prizes and support, particularly Andrew Moloney of Hook and Ladder team who pulled out all the stops with their coffee truck.

“Your support is vital to the work of the Mid Western Cancer Foundation as we deliver our services spanning information and advice right through to holistic treatments, mindfulness and the CLIMB programme for young people" said Liz.
