Limerick communities urged to ‘Get on Board’ for annual Clean-Up event

REGISTRATION is now open for Team Limerick Clean-Up (TLC), taking place this Good Friday, April 3, across Limerick city and county. This is the 11th year of the annual clean-up, the largest of its kind in Ireland.

This year marks a new decade for TLC and in collaboration with Bus Éireann, organisers are encouraging volunteers to ‘Get on Board’ and sign up for Team Limerick Clean-Up 2026, at www.teamlimerickcleanup.ie/register.  

Registration closes for schools on March 14 and on March 21 for volunteers and organisations.

TLC co-founders Paul O’Connell and Helen O’Donnell were joined by Mayor of Limerick John Moran, Director General of Limerick City and County Council Dr Pat Daly, Príomh Chomhairleoir Cllr Catherine Slattery, John Kiely, Joe O’Sullivan and Dermot Koyce (Bus Éireann) and performers from Fidget Feet to launch Team Limerick Clean-Up 2026.

Speaking about the launch, Paul O’Connell and Helen O’Donnell, TLC co-founders said: “We are delighted to partner with Bus Éireann this year as we mark 11 years of Team Limerick Clean-Up and would like to thank them for their support to date. We hope that volunteers, businesses, schools and clubs will get behind TLC again this year and register their groups online.”

They added: “We need everyone to register correctly to ensure that we have enough equipment and rubbish collection points.”

Director General of Limerick City and County Council, Dr Pat Daly said: "As a Council, we are proud to dedicate the time and support needed to ensure TLC takes place each Good Friday, working closely with the TLC team, community partners and volunteers. It’s truly uplifting to see thousands of civic minded people come together each year with a shared purpose, creating a cleaner environment and strengthening community pride."

Sponsored by the JP McManus Benevolent Fund and supported by Limerick City and County Council, over 23,500 volunteers took part in Team Limerick Cleanup 2025 which was spread over 547 groups all over Limerick city and Limerick county including 89 schools. Last year saw over 50 tonnes of litter collected, which is equivalent to approx. 2000 household wheelie bins of rubbish.
