Limerick sides prepare for play-off action as All-Ireland League season reaches its business end

ALL seven Limerick sides were in action over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend in the Men's Energia All-Ireland League as the regular season action reached its conclusion with Garryowen, Shannon, UL Bohemian, Old Crescent and Thomond all set for play-off action.

In Division 1A, Young Munster concluded their season with a home tie against Ballynahinch. Ger Slattery's side won by a margin of 10 points at Tom Clifford Park, running out 22-12 winners.

Tries from Andrew Smith, Orin Burke and Liam McMahon ensured 'The Cookies' would be finishing the regular season on a winning note.

The Limerick side finished the season in sixth position of the 1A table having won eight matches.

In Division 1B, Garryowen ended their regular season with an away tie against UCC at the Mardyke.

The 'Light Blues' were defeated on a scoreline of 24-10 on Leeside and gave themselves a mountain to climb at the interval trailing by 17-0. Finn McCall and Seán Rennison touched down for the visitors on the day.

However the Limerick-based side finished the season in fourth position, which grants them a play-off position next weekend.

In Division 2A, Old Crescent concluded their season with a trip to Eaton Park to face Ballymena.

The Limerick side were well beaten on a scoreline of 45-3 which confirms their place in a relegation play-off next weekend, the Limerick side finishing ninth in the 2A table.

Also in Division 2A, Shannon concluded their season with a trip to Spafield to face Cashel. Shannon ran out 24-12 winners in Spafield thanks to tries from Neil Cronin, Alex Long and Luke Moylan which confirmed their place in play-off action, with the Limerick side finishing second in the 2A table.

In Division 2B, UL Bohemian finished their regular season with a home tie against Navan at the University of Limerick's North Campus.

'Bohs' ran out emphatic 49-point winners which confirmed their place in the play-offs next weekend.

In Division 2C, Thomond concluded their regular season with a trip to the capital to face Bective Rangers in Donnybrook. Thomond were defeated on a 30-12 scoreline, with Jason Kiely and Jake Connolly touching down for the visitors.

Thomond finish the season in third position, which is enough to see them through to this season's play-offs.

Also in Division 2C, Bruff finished their regular season with a home tie against Midleton at Kilballyowen Park. The home side were defeated by 12 points at the South Limerick ground which sees them finish the season in eight position.
