Limerick sides return to action as Energia All-Ireland League reaches crucial stage

ALL seven Limerick sides in the Energia All-Ireland League return to action after the league briefly adjourned last weekend.

In Division 1A, Young Munster gear up for a home tie against Clontarf at Tom Clifford Park on Saturday at 2.30pm.

Young Munster's play-off hopes were dealt a blow in the capital a fortnight ago, losing out by 18 points to Lansdowne at the Aviva Stadium back pitch.

'Munsters' were defeated on a scoreline of 31-13. The result keeps ‘The Cookies’ sixth in the Division 1A table. 

In Division 1B, Garryowen travel to Shaw's Bridge to face Instonians on Saturday at 2.30pm.

Garryowen secured a precious 31-28 win over Blackrock College in Dooradoyle a fortnight ago.

The Limerick side produced a masterful comeback in the second half to get over the line, having been down 21-5 at the interval. The result keeps Garryowen fifth in the 1B table.

In Division 2A, Shannon travel to Rifle Park to face Banbridge on Saturday at 2.30pm.

Shannon secured a vital 23-19 win over Dungannon on the back pitch at Thomond Park two weeks' ago.

The Limerick side found themselves three points behind at half-time, but managed to produce a fine second half display to eke out a four-point winning margin. The result keeps Shannon in third position in the 2A table.

Also in Division 2A, Old Crescent make the trip to Dr. Hickey Park to face Greystones on Saturday at 2.30pm.

Old Crescent were edged by MU Barnhall at Takumi Park on a scoreline of 24-21 last time out.

The away side did hold a commanding 14-point half-time lead, but to the Limerick side's credit, they dug in during the second half and almost produced an admirable comeback. The result leaves Old Crescent sitting ninth in the 2A table.

In Division 2B, UL Bohemians are gearing up for a home tie against the Buccaneers at the University of Limerick's North Campus on Saturday at 2.30pm. 

'Bohs' were narrowly beaten by Raimey RFC at Hatrick Park on a scoreline of 26-24 afortnight ago.

The Limerick side found themselves 18-points down at the half-time break, but came close to pulling off a stunning second-half comeback, ultimately coming up just short. The result leaves the Limerick side sitting third in the 2A table.

In Division 2C, Bruff gear up for the challenge of Bective Rangers on Saturday at 2.30pm at Energia Park. Bruff were beaten at the hands of Ballyclare at Kilballyowen Park on a scoreline of 34-19 two weeks' ago.

The result leaves Bruff sitting seventh in the 2C table.

Also in 2C, Thomond travel to Virgin Media Park to face Dolphin on Saturday at 2.30pm following their impressive 34-24 win over Malahide a fortnight ago.
