A FIRST senior league final appearance since 2002 is the prize on offer for the Limerick camogie side who travel to the capital to face Dublin this Saturday.

An impressive win over Wexford last weekend means a draw will suffice for David Deady’s side, who are thrilled to be in a shootout with the Dubs’ to see who meets Clare in Centra National Camogie League Division 1B final.

“If you were to ask me at the start of the league, going into the last game, if we’d have an opportunity to make a league final I would have snapped the hand off you,” Deady said ahead of the Round 5 clash. “So we’re very much looking forward to the challenge of going to Dublin on Saturday.”

Wins over Down and Offaly provided the foundation for Limerick to be one win away from the decider.

“Looking back on the last four games, the league has been an extremely positive one for Limerick. The girls have worked extremely hard to get into this position.

“The camp is very positive at the minute, but that comes from the work that the girls are doing, they are putting in the hard yards.

“The girls can see the hard work is paying off on the field.”

Dublin have had a hot-and-cold campaign themselves - losing to Down, but also getting a very credible draw against Clare and beating Offaly convincingly last time out
