Limerick Camogie Championships reach critical stage

Monaleen are in the Limerick senior camogie championship final for the first time in their club's history this Saturday

THERE are a number of finals down for decision in the Limerick club camogie championships this weekend.Newcastle West and Monaleen battle it out for the Limerick Senior Camogie Championship title on Saturday afternoon in Ballyagran at 4pm.

‘The Magpies’ are bidding to complete an historic three in-a-row for the West Limerick club after winning the championship in both 2023 and 2024.Monaleen are in their first ever Limerick senior camogie championship final this weekend.

Limerick ladies footballers Roisin Ambrose, Grace Lee, Yvonne Lee, Karen O'Leary, Ellie Woulfe, Iris Kennelly, Deborah Murphy and Rebecca Delee are all part of the Newcastle West side.

Limerick camogie players Caoimhe Lyons, Aoife Nelligan, Emily O'Halloran and Laura Southern form part of a strong spine for the Castletroy-based club.

Adare take on Killeedy on Saturday at 1pm in the Senior ‘B’ Plate final in Feenagh. Limerick senior camogie captain Caoimhe Costelloe is a key player for Adare, while her inter-county teammate Shauna Cunningham will be in action for Killeedy.

Na Piarsaigh and Croagh-Kilfinny then meet in the senior relegation final on Saturday at 11am in Cappamore. Croagh-Kilfinny won the intermediate championship last year.The loser will be relegated to the intermediate grade for the 2026 season.

Patrickswell and Templeglantine will both battle it out for a place in senior camogie when they meet in Coolyroe on Saturday at 1pm in the Intermediate final.Theresa Dore and Sarah Gillane, who were part of the Limerick camogie panel this year, will be hoping that the ‘Well can make the jump up to the top tier of Limerick club camogie.

Stephanie Woulfe was part of the star-studded UL Ashbourne Cup winning side earlier this year and she will be hoping that she can add another piece of silverware to her collection in this weekend's game.

Blackrock Effin take on Crecora in the Intermediate Plate final on Saturday morning at 11am in Cappamore. Meanwhile, applications for the new Limerick camogie manager closed on Friday October 3
