Tipperary started with intent. Róisin Howard and the impressive Grace O'Brien notched two early points to give Denis Kelly's side an early advantage.

Tipperary full-back Karen Blair stormed up the field to quickly add a third as the scores began to flow for the away side.

Limerick had to weather an early Tipperary storm and to their credit, they worked tirelessly to keep the lively Tipperary forwards at bay.

Emily O'Halloran and Sophie O'Callaghan were solid throughout but the away side's quality shone through as the half wore on.

Karen Kennedy got the visitors first goal of the day. Sarah Gillane pulled off a fine save shortly after to ensure that Kennedy didn't strike twice in as many minutes.

Grace O'Brien who was excellent throughout, finishing with a tally of 1-8, struck another goal for Tipperary just shy of half time to leave Limerick with a mountain to climb at the interval, 2-12 to 0-01 the score at the break.

Joe Quaid's side never gave in and started the second half with a flurry of well-taken scores. Caoimhe Costelloe, Stephanie Woulfe and Orlaith Kelliher were all on the scoresheet as Limerick showed character and resolve to try and bounce back.

However much like the first half, Tipperary's quality was just too much at times.

Grace O'Brien carried on her excellent first-half form, the Nenagh native superb from placed balls all afternoon. Further goals from substitutes Jean Kelly and Lucy Purcell ensure Tipperary would leave Cappamore with a comfortable victory.

Tipperary will face Clare next week for a chance to make it out of the group, whilst for Limerick, this result spells the end of the year.
