Kingfishr perform an acoustic set for fans in Golden Disc on Cruises Street
KINGFISHR gave early birds in Limerick a rare treat with an intimate in-store gig this Friday lunchtime ahead of their big gig in the city.
As a prelude to their already sold-out show at the Docklands this Friday night - the band performed a stripped-back set at Golden Discs on Cruises Street in Limerick city.
Around 50 lucky attendees enjoyed the intimate acoustic performance that came in celebration of Halcyon, the band's debut album, which officially released the same day.

Fans who had pre-ordered the record were invited to the exclusive in-store set. It was a stripped-back session that highlighted the emotional depth and lyrical honesty the trio have become known for.
The band performed a short but stirring set, playing fan favourites with Caroline, Shot in the Dark, Killeagh, I Cried, I Wept, and new track 21.
Despite the small audience, the energy was magnetic. The band made it personal by sharing stories behind the songs, encouraging singalongs, and creating a heartfelt connection that made the room feel even bigger.
Having all met while studying at the University of Limerick, the band reflected on their early days, admitting some truths about their early work. Lead singer Eddie Keogh told the crowd with a laugh: “They were Dermot Kennedy rip-off songs, no denying it.” But he stood by their roots, adding: “It’s natural to copy your heroes.”
Now, with Halcyon out in the world and the Docklands set to be packed with fans, the band is embracing their Irish identity more than ever. “We were so afraid of the Irish fame,” they admitted, “but now we’re so proud of the movement of being Irish.”
One of the standout moments was their performance of "Shot in the Dark", introduced with a reflective note: “Good things come from when you give up.” A sentiment that captured both the vulnerability and resilience that underpins their songwriting.
The Docklands stage has seen major acts this August, from The Waterboys, Picture This and The Saw Doctors but on August 22, it belongs to Kingfishr and the rising wave of Killeagh fans who’ve followed them from lecture halls to headline shows.
