Fifty year memories - £200k primary school to be built

A PRIMARY school costing £200,000, having many unique features and accommodation for 1,000 boys, and planned to be one of the finest of its kind is to be built at the rear of the present C.B.S. in Sexton Street, Limerick. It will be linked by a new road to Parnell Street, but the existing entrances from Sexton Street can also be availed of.

A PRIMARY school costing £200,000, having many unique features and accommodation for 1,000 boys, and planned to be one of the finest of its kind is to be built at the rear of the present C.B.S. in Sexton Street, Limerick. It will be linked by a new road to Parnell Street, but the existing entrances from Sexton Street can also be availed of.

Work on the new school, which begins next Monday week, will take two years to complete. It will be two-storey, about 150 yards long, and having the unusual amenity of a play shelter or indoor recreation centre on the ground floor. This particular feature will be much appreciated on wet days. The school will this have all the classrooms - numbering 24 - on the second storey, and will include an administration block, reception rooms for parents, staff rooms, toilet facilities for each classroom, science room, library and art and medical rooms. Stacking tables and chairs replace desks. The plans also provide for an extensive bicycle shelter, and the school provides accommodation for 100 boys.
