Conor brings Villagers back to play Limerick’s Big Top

AFTER seeing his third successive album chart at number one in the Ireland, Conor O’Brien returns to Limerick for what should be one of the gigs of the year this Sunday.

Villagers - effectively Conor and friends - play a Live at the Big Top show in the Milk Market this Sunday night, fresh from chart success and critical acclaim for Darling Arithmetic.

The third album in the Villagers stable after Becoming A Jackal in 2010 and in 2013, the record is a stunning affair - lo-fi and stripped back to just O’Brien in its recording phase, with the enigmatic young musician laying his soul bare on what is a deeply emotional and honest album. It is also one bursting with soulful harmonies and musicianship, and some of O’Brien’s most striking songs in his as yet fledgling career.

As such, the shows on this tour have a slightly more stripped back set up on stage, including a harp and double bass, and, in the confines of the Milk Market, should make for a spine tingling gig with one of the country’s very finest musicians.

Doors open at 7pm and Gavin Glass plays support. Tickets €27.
