Carlow Weather man Alan O'Reilly got everyone thinking this weekend when he shared a clip on social media from one of his followers of steam coming up from the ground in Leitrim without any obvious cause.
The video shows an empty field with just some trees and bushes, then low and behold, in the centre of the frame is a stream of smoke or steam coming up from the ground.
There appears to be no obvious reasons as to why the steam would be coming up from the ground so O'Reilly asked his followers if they had any ideas.

Of course, people had a lot to say. From fairies, leprechauns and possible new volcanoes there was some wild theories as to what it could mean.
Some even suggested that Leitrim decided to go rogue and elect their own Pope - maybe not the most far fetched of ideas here.

Then there was the more serious and logical explanations. A lot of people thought it could have been a gas leak or a water leak.
One person in the comments said: "Buried electrical cable that has failed, heating up the ground water. That or it’s a new volcano!"
So far, there has been no answers and it remains a mystery. What do you think it was?
