WATCH: Superintendent praises 'exemplary' emergency services who attended Clonmel collision

THE GARDA superintendent in Clonmel has praised emergency services who attended the scene of the fatal crash on Mountain Road on Friday calling their work "exemplary".

Superintendent Kieran Ruane, who previously served in the Limerick division, spoke to the media this Saturday describing the scene where four young people died as "very difficult".

He said: "I want to express my gratitude to my colleagues in An Garda Síochána and other emergency services who attended the scene last night. The scene was very difficult in very adverse weather conditions. The professionalism shown by all first responders and the care and respect shown to the deceased was exemplary."

He went on to assure the community that An Garda Síochána "is here over the coming days, weeks and months" as the community comes to terms with the tragedy.
