WOW! Skier spotted 'off-piste' on Limerick golf course

Video of man skiing in Limerick after heavy snowfall goes viral

FAMOUS ski resorts like Chamonix, Cortina d’Ampezzo and Courchevel have a new contender to rival their popularity in the form of Castletroy.

A video of  a man skiing down the slopes of Castletroy Golf Club on Sunday has gone viral. He goes “off-piste” as he skis down what Limerick Live has been reliably informed is the 13th hole. It is colloquially known as “cardiac hill” due to the steep incline. It's normally a five iron or a wood depending on the wind but today the skis were taken out of the bag.

The golf course was closed due to the heavy snowfall so there was no chance of him getting hit by a golf ball. Indeed, he could have used the golf flags as gates to mark out his downhill course.

The skier made a terrific “up and down” but couldn’t enjoy the “Apres ski” for long as the clubhouse closed at 7pm to ensure safety of staff as they travel home.

In an email to members, Castletroy Golf Club kindly reminded everyone to avoid entering the course while it is closed.

“This is essential to maintain health and safety for all. Additionally, please be aware that no insurance coverage is available for any accidents that occur on the course while it remains closed.

“Stay safe, and we look forward to reopening the course as soon as it is safe to play,” read the email seen by Limerick Live.

Separately, a video of a man snowboarding in Southill, while attached to the back of a car, has also been widely shared on social media.
