MANAGER Shane Dowling and his Limerick minor hurling team were defeated by Clare in round two of Munster minor hurling championship on a scoreline of 0-15 to 0-9 in Sixmilebridge on Thursday evening.
"It’s fierce disappointing, no excuses at all. We had a couple of chances to bring it back level and may have got the momentum. The last seven or eight minutes, Clare powered clear and we didn’t,’’ said Dowling afterwards.
Limerick brought the game back to a one a point game when they trailed 0-11 - 0-10 early in the second half but in the end Clare finished strongly to win by six points.
Jack Cosgrave and Diarmuid Hurley were most impressive for the Shannonsiders, hitting 0-9 between them. The biggest concern for Dowling will be that Limerick failed to score from play.
"To be fair we did get the shots off and we even spoke about it at half time that we had number of shots but they weren’t going over," former Limerick senior hurling star Dowling added.
