LIMERICK hurling star Cian Lynch quipped that he needed to buy a new box of golf balls after his round in the Horizon Irish Open Pro-Am at the K-Club in County Kildare this Wednesday but the Patrickswell man did have the satisfaction of holing a monster 30-foot putt on his final green much to the delight of the large gallery of golf and GAA fans.
Five-time All-Ireland senior medal winner Lynch played in the company of two more multiple All-Ireland medal winners, Dublin's Dean Rock and Cork's Valerie Mulcahy, for the traditional eve of tournament event.
The three GAA stars were joined in their fourball by Scottish professional Ewen Ferguson for their first 9 holes and then by South African player Justin Walters for their second nine holes.
After his visit to Straffan today, Lynch will turn his thoughts to Patrickswell's crucial Group 1 fixture in the Bon Secours Limerick senior hurling championship this Thursday evening against Kilmallock.

Speaking exclusively to Limerick Leader Sport after his round, Lynch described his experience of playing in the Pro-Am as 'hugely enjoyable'.
"It was unbelievable to be honest. I was coming down here nervous enough," Lynch told Leader Sport.
"Obviously, on the first tee the legs start shaking but, no, it was very enjoyable.
"It was great craic playing the two nines with two different professional golfers. I played with Dean Rock and Valerie (Mulcahy).
"We had our own caddies as well. It was very enjoyable and I am absolutely honoured and delighted to have been invited to come up and play this Pro Am.
"It's for a great cause and I am delighted to be part of it."
Lynch also played in the Pro Am at the 2019 Irish Open at Lahinch Golf Club and admits that it is a sport he would like to try more often if the time permitted.
"I would love to play golf a lot more, but obviously when you are training and working Monday to Friday, you don't have much time, but when the winter comes I hope to be able to play a few rounds," he said.
"I need to buy a new box of balls after today cos' a lot of them are gone."
