Summer camp kids make music video for famous Limerick singer

Limerick arts summer camp children reveal their music video on YouTube for famous song!

CHILDREN aged eight to 12 have made a music video in collaboration with one famous Limerick singer as part of a summer camp project.

The music video, entitled Helium Birdsong, was a collaborative effort between summer camp participants of the Helium Arts branch in Limerick and singer-songwriter Emma Langford, as well as artist Dr Emma Fisher.

Helium Arts Limerick Summer Camp took place from the 16 to 18 July in the Dooradoyle Library in the Crescent Shopping Centre. The idea for the music video project was created by Helium Arts associate artist, Dr Emma Fisher, who facilitated the Summer Camp.

Dr Fisher is originally from Castleconnell and now lives and works in Limerick city. She is a puppeteer, animator and production designer for theatre and film. She helped the children create and produce their video, now on YouTube.

Once Dr Fisher had the idea of creating a music video, she put a message out online asking if any local musicians would like to collaborate on the project.  Limerick singer-songwriter, Emma Langford responded and kindly offered the use of any of her songs for the project.
They filmed everything on a green screen with a stop-motion app. There were 30 different videos created during the camp
and the children involved were: Andrew, Chloe, Chloe, Ciara, Ellie, Faith, Grace, Isabelle, Lucie, Michael, Olivia, Paddy, Pristina, Ruadhán, Scarlett and Sean.
The assitant facilitators were Karen McCarthy and William Hayes.

Helium Arts posted to social media, saying: "Delighted to share a music video made by Helium Arts Limerick summer camp participants (ages 8-12) for Emma Langford's song #birdsong. A huge thank you to Emma for letting us use her beautiful song."

Emma Langford reposted the link to the video on X (formerly Twitter), saying: "So honoured to have this gorgeous video made for my song."

Helium Arts is a children's charity which gives children with lifelong health conditions the opportunity to be creative through free arts and crafts workshops.

They also offer summer camps and online courses to children across the country, where they can foster new skills and make friendships through creativity. Helium Arts Creative Health Programme takes place in the University Hospital Limerick.
