PATRICKSWELL man Fergus Kilcoyne has retained his seat after a dramatic election count in Limerick City West.
The former village publican joined Fianna Fail after being elected back in 2019 as an Independent.
This time round, he took the fourth seat in City West polling 1,405. He was elected without reaching the quota.
Upon realising it was his turn to be returned, Cllr Talukder hot footed it from Patrickswell village to the racecourse.
He was spotted wiping his brow upon his arrival - having initially been worried about missing his moment in the spotlight.

"It's brilliant. It's been a long wait with the extra count," said Cllr Kilcoyne, surrounded by his supporters.
"I've worked hard for the last five years, I will for the next five years. I'm a voice for the people."
Cllr Kilcoyne outlined his hopes that he can deliver more play areas for children in his own constituency, plus a community centre serving Raheen, and an athletics dome.
"It's been a hard campaign. We have been ruthless at times to do what we had to do . I'm here to serve the people for the next five years. I will do my best," he added.
Returned at the same time as him were Cllr Elisa O'Donovan, Cllr Azad Talukder and newly-elected candidate Maria Donoghue.
The election of these four candidates brings to a close the count in Limerick City West - and indeed the whole city and county.
After a day and a half of counting, there are now 40 councillors in place serving on Limerick City and County Council for the next five years.
