BREAKING: Shock and joy as Non-Party newcomer Maria Donoghue elected in Limerick City West

Cllr Donoghue was the only final councillor to be elected who is a first-timer in the final count

NEWLY elected councillor Maria Donoghue was blown away by the support she received following her election in Limerick City West.

She said she was “shocked, surprised and honoured” to be elected during the final 12th count.

“Almost 800 people in Limerick City West who did not know me seven weeks ago gave me their number one vote and that was such a win on its own.

“I’m Independent with a tiny team and tiny budget and to be here now, elected, I’m honoured. I made commitments during my campaign and I will keep them,” she said.

The final count for the district first-timer Cllr Donoghue and three others elected, including that of councillors who retained their seats Cllr Elisa O’Donovan, SD, Cllr Fergus Kilcoyne, FG and Cllr Azud Talukder, FF.
