COUNCILLOR Adam Teskey has retained his seat in the Adare-Rathkeale area, getting a seat in the first count, along with his party colleague Cllr Stephen Keary who topped the poll.
There were elated scenes as he was hoisted into the air by his supporters and he proudly grappled to wave a large Limerick flag.
Speaking to Limerick Live just moments after the results, he said: "I'm humbled with the support."
He said: "This is a day of complete honour for me, to be able to represent my electorate."
Cllr Teskey paid particular thanks to all those who voted for him and put their trust in him for another term.
"I'm so proud to represent that town and I promise the support they've given to me, I will give it back to them in leaps and bounds in bringing the town forward."
He said he will be focusing on driving economic growth across the municipal district.
Cllr Teskey promises "dedication, no nonsense and common sense" for the next five years.
The quota for count 1 is 1,879 votes and Cllr Teskey secured 1,902. His fellow Fine Gael Cllr Stephen Keary topped the poll with 2,329.

Last time around, in 2019, Cllr Teskey topped the poll, but was beaten to top of the poll by his party colleague Cllr Stephen Keary.
This year saw both Cllr Kevin Sheahan and Cllr Emmett O'Brien retire, leaving two seats wide open for potential newcomers.
Cllr Teskey is one of five current sitting councillors hoping to retain a seat, while there are eleven candidates overall.
